I woke up from a dream a little over a year ago with a full day planned for retreat, community, and renewal. In the week following the dream I contacted all the people I saw in the dream and asked if they would like to be part of such a day for renewal, healing and for a fundraiser for Unity in Edinboro.
Everyone was in full agreement. The day started to be planned.
That day is set to come up on September 14th at Goodell Gardens and Homestead.
I cannot believe that it has really been an entire year since I had that dream and that the date is almost here.
The thing about dreams – is that they don’t automatically happen. Once inspiration is felt and seen, it is up to us to forward that inspiration into reality.
It takes a lot more time, a lot more money and a lot more planning than I would have ever imagined pulling together on such a day. I have found great appreciation for those who organize fundraising events for their favorite non-profit. There is a lot of patience, and faith and contending with doubt that one is proceeding in a fashion that honors the inspiration and that brings in the funds necessary to not only put on the event but to also have a return on the event to help the non-profit the event is to financially help.
That is always a struggle for me. The financial part of what we do. I know it is necessary. I know that without some financial exchange my children and I would not be eating. In a perfect world, healing, help and honoring one’s inspiration in dreams would not require the exchange of funds. Or is that really the way it is?
The confusion about money comes from the concept that abundance is limited. That it is not possible for us to all thrive together in this human system that requires the exchange of money to keep the world going.
We approach Erie Gives this Tuesday in my area. https://www.eriegives.org/
On this day each year (this year August 12) we can log on and select our favorite non-profits and give them knowing that others have put up funds to offset processing fees and to match funds.
Unity in Edinboro is on the list of non-profits that are accepting generosity on Erie Gives.
I am grateful to all the people that said they would help with Synergy in Nature: A Day Of Harmony and Healing Retreat and fundraiser and to all those who are going to choose to add us to their giving on Erie Gives Day.
Without them – the reason I am even part of Unity in Edinboro would not be possible. I have always felt that in community we enhance and support community. Bringing people together for healing, for a day of interaction and of nature is one way in which to remind ourselves that we are community. Erie Gives is a day on which the community financially allows the work of community, of healing, of helping bring out the best and the light in our neighbors and in ourselves.
I have been wrestling with my own personal human doubts and fears about bringing dreams and inspiration into existence. I have wrestled with my own resistance to the abundance available in community. I know this is normal. It is part of being human to question everything – even one’s own dreams and inspiration. It is normal to question if the dream was interpreted correctly, if there will be enough people that want to share in a day of healing to make all the work and the finances worth it. It is easy to question whether there is enough support for what you are doing, in what you are passionate about to be financially remembered on days like Erie Gives.
I know it is worth it. I know that the people that come and are forming a community around the Pay What You Can Farmer’s market at Unity in Edinboro is worth it. It has taken three years of gathering food, of interacting with community and growers and other non-profits to really see the investment start to move into what the dream showed. It has taken a year of planning, and of talking and of organizing to put on the Synergy Day of Harmony and Healing. I know whatever happens on September 14th, it will all be worth it.
Thank you all for being part of this human journey with me. Thank you all for supporting the dream of a community working together for community.
